A Call to the Community

Everyone is encouraged to participate wearing traditional attire that reflects their culture. Organizations are also requested to attend with banners if possible. President Rai has invited all representatives of Colorado-based organizations — intellectuals, social workers, dignitaries, journalists, businesspeople, artists, Nepali-speaking families, and all those who hold goodwill toward Nepal and Nepalis — to attend and help make the program grand and dignified.

History of the Nepal Day Parade

The parade is held every year in the beautiful city of Boulder, whose geographical setting resembles the Kathmandu Valley. The Colorado parade began after the Boulder City and County office made an official declaration in 2004 that a “Nepal Day Parade” would be held every year for the preservation and recognition of Nepali language and culture.

Among the fifty states in America, Colorado is the first state to organize this kind of program. This is the first registered program recognized by the American government as a day for Nepalis. As the Nepali population in Colorado grew, this program was initiated under the leadership of Narayan Shrestha, President of Helping Hand Health Education, with the objective of promoting Nepali identity and introducing Nepal to the broader community.

Come celebrate Nepal’s rich heritage with us in Boulder! Wear your traditional attire, bring your flags and banners, and join the community in making this year’s Nepal Day Parade a memorable success.
